Supporting online safety in an increasingly connected world

Today’s youngest generations are born into a world where digital platforms play a central role in education, entertainment, shopping, social interaction and more.

It is therefore important that – alongside all the exciting opportunities – young people are made aware of potential risks, from data protection concerns and online scams to cyberbullying and misuse of social media.

To help local students stay safe and responsible online, Intertek Malaysia developed the ‘We Care: Cyber Aware’ programme, which was delivered at a secondary school near our cybersecurity testing services laboratory in Petaling Jaya.

The initiative saw nearly 450 students join interactive sessions hosted by Intertek colleagues. Through engaging presentations, case studies and quizzes, the students gained insights into common online risks and practical steps they can take to safeguard themselves online.

The programme is part of Intertek’s broader series of ‘We Care’ initiatives, which have been making an impact across communities in Asia Pacific for several years. Other initiatives have included community cleanups, charitable support for disadvantaged groups and annual sustainability events for children.
